This easy orange posset recipe combines cream, sugar, and fresh orange juice and zest to create a smooth, creamy dessert. Serve chilled for a refreshing treat!
1tablespoonof orange zest + 1/4 cup of fresh-squeezed orange juice
Instructions
In a medium saucepan, bring cream and sugar to a boil over medium-high heat. Stir constantly until the sugar completely dissolves.Once boiling, reduce the heat to simmer to maintain a gentle boil so the mixture does not boil over. Continue stirring constantly for about 3 minutes as the mixture thickens slightly.
1 pint of heavy cream, 1/4 cup granulated sugar
Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the zest and orange juice so the flavors infuse into the creamy mixture. Let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes to cool slightly.
1 tablespoon of orange zest + 1/4 cup of fresh-squeezed orange juice
Stir the posset mixture again to ensure it's well combined. Using a fine mesh strainer, filter out the orange zest to ensure a smooth texture in the final dish. Now carefully pour or spoon the mixture (I use my ice cream scoop; it's less messy) into six individual ramekins (or any 4-ounce dessert dishes) ensuring each one gets a generous portion.
Cover each ramekin with plastic wrap or lids and transfer them to the refrigerator. Let them chill for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight, until the possets are fully set.Serve and enjoy!
