Hi! I’m Barbara. Here at the Gluten Free Homestead, I’ve been cooking gluten-free for more than fifteen years. Whether you’ve just started following a gluten-free diet or have been eating gluten-free for years, I hope you’ll find lots of new recipes to try.
My husband, John writes the wellness and fitness articles. Our mission doesn’t just stop with sharing nutritious and great-tasting gluten-free recipes. Over the years we’ve discovered that simply substituting gluten containing ingredients with gluten-free ingredients is not enough.
We have adopted a diet based on whole foods (organic whenever possible) and follow a disciplined fitness and rest routine. Here on the blog, we share what we’ve learned about gluten-free living, wellness, fitness and the abundant life.
John and I have a passion for healthy living. Here’s a little bit more about us:
Meet Barbara.
I love to bring fun into the kitchen and wholesome food to the table. I have a passion for making gluten-free food taste good. John and our 4 adult children are my official taste-testers.
When I’m not cooking, I enjoy drinking a lot of coffee, eating a little dark chocolate, reading a good novel, going for walks, and spending time with my family and friends.
I like to tell people that 60 is the new 40. I’m finding that lifting heavy weights in the gym makes it easier to lift heavy cast iron pans in the kitchen. 😉
Meet John.
John is a retired doctor of podiatric medicine. During his days as a podiatrist, he specialized in orthopedics and surgery.
Unfortunately, a decades-long battle with chronic fatigue syndrome complicated by non-celiac gluten sensitivity and adrenal fatigue caused him to stop practicing.
Today after recovering from those chronic health issues John is able to bring a unique perspective to his articles on fitness and wellness.
He likes to tell people that at 60, he’s back in the gym setting personal records in power lifting.
