Here’s my unbiased review of Cup 4 Cup Gluten Free Brownie mix.
With the string of snowstorms that have hit the Northeast over the past number of weeks, we have found ourselves snowed in on a number of wintry evenings.
What better way to make the most of these impromptu holidays than gathering around the fireplace with a cup of hot cocoa and a decadent chocolate brownie?
We’ve been indulging our dessert cravings by making the delicious gluten and dairy free chocolate brownie mix from Cup 4 Cup.
These gourmet-tasting brownies are delightfully fudgy and intensely chocolaty: the perfect treat as you watch the falling snow.
Healthy Facts
All Cup 4 Cup products are produced independently in a dedicated Celiac Sprue Association-certified gluten-free facility. The chocolate brownie mix is both gluten and dairy free so those who are lactose intolerant can also enjoy these brownies.
The mix contains a custom blended, all-natural gluten free flour that was specially developed by Lena Kwak when she worked as a chef at the world famous and award-winning restaurant French Laundry.
Quick and Easy Cook and Prep Time
The directions for making these brownies are fast and simple. First, preheat the oven to 350˚F. In a bowl, whisk together two eggs, ½ cup melted butter (or coconut oil), a teaspoon of vanilla extract, and two tablespoons of water.
Add in the brownie mix and stir until fully combined. Next, spread the batter evenly into a lightly oiled baking pan. Pop in the oven and bake for 35-45 minutes. The brownies should be done if you insert a toothpick in the center and it comes out clean.
Cooking Tips
Cup 4 Cup warns that it is important not to overcook the brownies, as “baking time will vary depending on the oven and pan.” Make sure to watch yours closely while they are baking.
The mix makes a very rich and decadent brownie. For a slightly minty taste, add a 1/4 teaspoon of peppermint extract or if you prefer a more cake-like brownie, try adding an extra egg.
This mix is multipurpose which means that you can also use it to make cookies or a devil’s food cake.
Conclusion
If I hadn’t known, I probably wouldn’t have guessed that these tasty brownies are gluten free. They’re moist and chewy and do not fall apart when cut into squares.
Unlike other gluten free products I’ve tried, they have a rich flavor with no back taste or strange texture. This was my first time trying a product by Cup 4 Cup.
They also make flour, pizza crust mix, and a pancake and waffle mix. I hope I get the chance to try these soon because the Cup 4 Cup Chocolate Brownie mix has definitely passed our taste tests.

Tami @ This Mom's Delight says
They look delicious. Would a person who’s used to eating gluten products find them tasty or odd tasting?
Barbara says
That’s just it, Tami, you won’t find anything odd about these brownies. They’re made with the highest quality ingredients and I can’t tell the difference from those made with wheat flour mixes.
Kebba Buckley Button says
Barbara, you are a cook after my own heart! Er, tastebuds. In what region can people buy this brand of GF mix? In the Western US, Safeway markets have now come out with their own baking mix line, “Eating Right for Gluten Free”. And their brownie mix tastes much like one of my own recipes. Thanks for all hour work on GF eating! (And whereas the comment panels were not showing earlier in the evening, they are now right here. Thanks so much for your email.

Hi Kebba,
Sorry about the computer glitch. Glad you were able to return and comment.
Do you have a Whole Foods near you or Williams-Sonoma? Cup 4 Cup is available there. They do offer assistance on their website https://www.cup4cup.com/where-to-buy/ It’s worth asking your supermarket to carry Cup 4 Cup because their products have been specially formulated to perform like wheat flour.
Gluten free living just keeps getting better.
