Jump to Recipe - Print Recipe

Chocolate drizzled strawberries in yogurt transforms a nutritious bowl of yogurt into a fancy, guilt-free dessert. Yum.

Dark Chocolate Drizzled Strawberries with Homemade Yogurt

Have you added yogurt to your diet yet? If not, you’re in for a treat!

Recently, on the blog, we discussed the fantastic benefits of probiotic yogurt to restore gut health and shared an easy step by step guide to make your own homemade yogurt. Now, let’s take that delicious yogurt to the next level!

Note: If you’d like the simple guide to make homemade yogurt, you can get the PDF version when you subscribe.

Today, I’m excited to share an amazingly delicious way to enjoy your nutritious yogurt: a dish of creamy yogurt topped with sweet, juicy strawberries drizzled with rich dark chocolate. Chocolate makes everything amazing, right? It’s such an irresistible and nutritious treat!

This is one of our quick and easy gluten free dessert recipes you will want to bookmark for later.

Dark Chocolate Drizzled Strawberries with Homemade Yogurt

Strawberries and yogurt are a delicious pairing in my refreshing Frozen Strawberry Protein Pops, my tummy-soothing Strawberry and Yogurt Smoothie, and my power up High Protein Smoothie With Strawberries too!

If you adore the rich indulgence of my chocolate-covered strawberries, you might be enchanted by these White Chocolate Strawberry Ghosts from my blog friend, which add a playful twist.

And the best part? My delightful yogurt dessert only takes about 10 minutes to whip up! So, let’s get started with the simple instructions.

Ingredients

  • Yogurt: If you haven’t made your own yogurt, I recommend Trimona Bulgarian yogurt. It scores #5 on this yogurt buyer’s guide. Or go with Greek yogurt or your favorite yogurt brand.
  • Chocolate: I have dark chocolate. Feel free to use semi-sweet, milk chocolate, or even white chocolate if you prefer.
  • Strawberries: When choosing strawberries, look for bright red, plump berries with fresh green leaves and no mold.

Instructions

First, you need to prepare the chocolate. I recommend using dark chocolate. It actually has many health benefits.

Ghirardelli 60%, 72%, 86%, and 92% Cacao bars and squares are made without gluten-containing ingredients. And Endangered Species brand is certified gluten free.

What is the best way to melt chocolate?

Melt the chopped up chocolate in a double boiler. If you don’t have one, place a dry glass bowl over a pot of simmering water. The water should not touch the bottom of your upper pan or bowl.

Simmer until only half of the chocolate is melted, then remove from heat, and stir gently until it is all melted. The chocolate should actually be tepid to the touch. If it’s hot, it may seize up and thicken.

What is the best way to prepare strawberries?

Next, wash and dry your strawberries. I recommend using organic strawberries, free of chemicals and pesticides. Make sure you dry them well or the chocolate will not stick.

In order to preserve as much of the fruit as possible, hull the berries with a paring knife. Remove the stems and core beneath the cap by inserting the tip of a paring knife at an angle into the core. Then rotate the knife and fruit in opposite directions until the core is released.

Alright, let’s put this delicious dessert together! Start by spooning about 1-2 tablespoons of creamy yogurt into a dish. Even a little bit can feel special, so take your time to enjoy it!

Next, grab those beautiful strawberries and gently place them in the yogurt, hulled side down. They’ll look so lovely nestled in there!

Now, for the fun part: creating those gorgeous chocolatey lines! I like to let my melted chocolate drip from a spoon, moving my hand back and forth quickly. It’s like painting with chocolate—how fun is that?

If you want a little more control, you can also pour the melted chocolate into a baggie. Just seal it up and snip off one of the corners. Then, squeeze gently to drizzle it over the strawberries.

It might take a bit of practice to master your technique, but don’t stress about it! Each dish is your unique work of art, kind of like you’re imitating Jackson Pollock! Enjoy the process and have fun with it!

Pro tips and recipe notes

Can I use other fruits? Definitely! While strawberries are a classic, you can use other fruit topping for yogurt like bananas, blueberries, or raspberries. Each fruit will add its own unique flavor and texture to the dish!

What are some variations I can try? Get creative! You can add toppings like crushed nuts, shredded coconut, or gluten free granola for extra crunch. You might also experiment with flavored yogurt, like vanilla or honey, for an extra layer of taste.

Is this a good dessert for parties? Absolutely! Chocolate-drizzled strawberries in yogurt make a beautiful and delicious dessert for parties. They’re easy to serve, and guests love the combination of flavors!

How should I store leftovers? If you have leftovers, store the yogurt and strawberries in an airtight container in the fridge. The chocolate might lose its drizzle look, but it will still taste delicious!
