How to make Dark Chocolate Drizzled Strawberries with Homemade Yogurt

First, you need to prepare the chocolate. I recommend using dark chocolate. It actually has many health benefits, and Endangered Species brand is certified gluten free.
What is the best way to melt chocolate?
Melt the chopped up chocolate in a double boiler. If you don’t have one, place a dry glass bowl over a pot of simmering water. The water should not touch the bottom of your upper pan or bowl.
Simmer until only half of the chocolate is melted, then remove from heat, and stir gently until it is all melted. The chocolate should actually be tepid to the touch. If it’s hot, it may seize up and thicken.
What is the best way to prepare strawberries?
Next, wash and dry your strawberries. I recommend using organic strawberries, free of chemicals and pesticides. Make sure you dry them well or the chocolate will not stick.
In order to preserve as much of the fruit as possible, hull the berries with a paring knife. Remove the stems and core beneath the cap by inserting the tip of a paring knife at an angle into the core. Then rotate the knife and fruit in opposite directions until the core is released.
To assemble the dessert, spoon the yogurt into a dish. If you haven’t made your own yogurt, I recommend Trimona Bulgarian yogurt. It scores #5 on this yogurt buyer’s guide.
Then place the strawberries in the pool of yogurt, hulled side down.
To make those gorgeous chocolatey lines, I let my chocolate drip a little from a spoon, moving my hand quickly back and forth.
You could also pour the melted chocolate into a baggie. Seal the baggie and snip off one of the corners. Squeeze slightly to drizzle over the strawberries. It can take a little practice to get the hang of it, but don’t stress. Each dish is your original work of art. Kind of like you’re imitating Jackson Pollock! 😊
I love how this quick and easy recipe transforms a healthy bowl of yogurt into a fancy, guilt-free dessert. Enjoy, friends! Have a happy and healthy week!
