Step 2: While your oven is warming up, grab your pizza crust and brush the top with some extra-virgin olive oil. This is going to give it a little golden crispiness when it bakes. Plus, it adds a touch of flavor that’s just perfect. Don’t be shy with the oil, but you don’t need to drown it either—just a nice even coat.
Step 3: Next, it’s time to sauce up that beauty. Spoon a good amount of pizza sauce right onto the crust and spread it out evenly. You don’t want it swimming in sauce, but you also don’t want it dry. Just a nice layer all the way around.
If you’re feeling extra adventurous, you could even try a pesto base or Alfredo sauce, but classic tomato is always a win.
Step 4: Now comes the fun part: cheese! Mozzarella is the classic, but you can also throw in some parmesan or even a bit of ricotta for extra creaminess. Just spread it all over the sauce, covering every inch. We’re going for that gooey, melty goodness.
If you’re in the mood for toppings, this is the moment to get creative. Throw on some veggies, pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, or whatever you love. Fresh ingredients make a huge difference! Don’t forget to add a little extra cheese on top if you’re feeling indulgent.
Step 5: If your crust is frozen, toss the pizza in the oven for 10-15 minutes. The cheese should be all bubbly and golden, and the crust will get that perfect crispiness. If you’re using a thawed crust, aim for 8-10 minutes.
And if you really want that super crispy crust, I recommend baking the pizza directly on the oven rack or on a pizza stone if you have one. Trust me, it makes a huge difference.
Once it’s done, slice it up and enjoy! You just made yourself the perfect homemade pizza—easy, delicious, and totally customizable.
Serving suggestions
Pizza is all about versatility, so don’t be afraid to get creative with your pairings! For a classic like this Pepperoni pizza, try serving it with a crisp Caesar salad or a refreshing Caprese salad: the classic Italian appetizer.
And for the finishing touch, sip on a rich Espresso Brewed in a Moka pot, paired with some Gluten Free Italian zeppole crispy, golden fried dough —it’s the ultimate Italian-inspired combo!
Pro Tips And Recipe Notes
- As you can see, I love the taste of this pizza shell. If you can’t find it in the frozen aisle of your grocery store, you might like Udi’s crispy thin crust which I also reviewed here: Udi’s Gluten Free Frozen Pizza Or if you have another favorite pie shell, go with it. I’d love to know which ones you like. I always appreciate your suggestions.
- Today, I topped my cheese pizza with pepperoni. Sometimes I like to top mine with saucy meat, sausage, caramelized onions, or mushrooms. What are your favorite toppings? Make it your own.
- For a crispy crust, bake directly on rack or on pizza stone.
- To store leftover pizza, let it cool, then place it in an airtight container. For the best reheating, use an oven or skillet to crisp the crust, or microwave with a cup of water to keep it from drying out.
Also, I want to note that I did not receive any compensation from Against The Grain for writing this review. These opinions are completely my own — I just had to share this wonderful product with you.

This was an interesting post as my daughter has wheat allergies.
I don’t think the pizza base is available in the UK but I’ll look for an alternative next time I go shopping 🙂
